出張レッスン

只今、帰国中・・・

今日は小学校にて、保護者２５名へのレッスンでした～。
実はこの小学校、昨年渡米前の１学期だけうちの息子が通った学校なのです。なので知っている方が何人か・・・　久しぶりのうれしい再会をしたのでした！

そして絵柄は、梅の木とかたつむり。
皆さんに楽しんでいただけたようです(*^_^*)


I'm in Japan...
Today, I had a class in an elementary school with 25 mothers.
Actually, this elementary school is the school my son went to for one semester before we moved back to NY. So, I saw some mothers I know. It was nice seeing all of them again!

Today's design was a flower and a snail. Everyone had a good time!

取材

今日はＮＹジャピオンの方が Designer Sushi の取材に来てくださいました。
おにぎり特集で、私のお寿司を取り上げていただけるとの事。大変有り難いお話です。

Today, I was interviewed by the Japanese newspaper in New York : Japion.
They will feature my designer sushi in their August 29th issue which will spotlight Onigiri (Rice ball). Please check it out!

お客様に

昨日は午後に来客の予定があったので、午前中に４種類のお寿司を巻きました。
日本人であってもまだこういうお寿司を目にするのは珍しいからでしょうか、私の予想以上に喜んでいただいて、うれしい～☆
これから戻る会社の方達へと、少しお持ち帰りいただいたら、
「社内でも皆が大盛り上がりでした！」と嬉しいメールをいただきました。
こういう言葉が私の原動力になっているんですよね～
感謝！

Yesterday, someone visited and I served her my designer sushi. She had never seen designer sushi before so she was very impressed.
I gave her some to bring back to her office. Later, she emailed me to say that her co-workers really enjoyed my sushi.
These words made me so happy and inspired.

デモストレーション

昨日は、アジアンアメリカンフェスティバルに参加してきました。

アジア各国の文化や食を紹介するようなイベントで、日本のコーナーでは、生け花・書道・折り紙・着物の試着など。。。そして、飾り巻き寿司！！！
展示用に作ってきたお寿司をテーブルに並べ、会場では２回のデモストレーションをしました。
ほとんどの皆さんは飾り巻き寿司を見るのは初めて。とても興味深いようで、質問もたくさん。
巻いたお寿司に包丁を入れ切り口を皆さんにお見せすると、、、「ワーオ！」「ビューティフル！」
中には「デモストレーションしてくれてありがとう」なんて言ってくださる方もいて。。。（涙）
とても嬉しかったです。
たくさんの方に見ていただき、飾り巻き寿司を紹介できて、とても素敵な一日でした。

I participated in an Asian American festival yesterday. This was an event to introduce the culture and food of some Asian countries.
The Japanese corner introduced Japanese flower arrangement, calligraphy, origami, trying on kimonos and my designer sushi!!!
I had some sushi prepared for display and had two demostrations. Most people had never seen designer sushi so they were very interested. I was asked many questions.
Finally, I cut the sushi and showed everybody...Everyone said "Wow!" "Beautiful!" and some people thanked me for demostrating.
I was so happy to introduce my designer sushi. It was a nice day for me!  :-)

となりのトトロ

今日はトトロの飾り巻き寿司。
ちょっとフクロウっぽいですが、ひげと葉っぱ（レタスですが・・・）を乗せたらトトロに見えるかナ？
トトロを知らない方のために、DVDのパッケージをとなりに置いてみました（笑）
もう少し試作を重ねて、近いうちにレッスンでも取り入れていきたいと思っています！

Today, I made "Totoro" sushi. You may think that it looks a little bit like an owl but this is the Japanese character "Totoro". I put the DVD package next to the sushi for people who don't know about Totoro :-) (By the way, you should watch this movie! It's the best movie ever!!!)
Totoro will be one of the designs I will use in a future class.
